Germany allows entry to 2,000 Afghans stranded in Pakistan

European reporter, Daily Dawn, Dawn TV report

Berlin: Germany has announced that it will allow re-entry to around 2,000 Afghan citizens stranded in Pakistan who were considered at risk under the Taliban regime. The decision comes after months of restrictions and legal cases filed in Germany.

According to the German Foreign Ministry, these Afghan citizens were at various stages, and the process of screening them has been restarted. Relevant authorities are present in Pakistan to proceed with the entry process.

The Interior Ministry has clarified that only those Afghan citizens whose cases have been successful in court or who have already been granted formal entry will be able to enter Germany. They will be required to undergo security checks and will also need an exit permit from Pakistan.

The decision comes at a time when Pakistan has given Afghan refugees a deadline of September 1 to leave the country. Human rights lawyers and aid organizations say these Afghan families have been waiting for a long time and have finally received relief.
