Azad Kashmir: 58 people injured in protests, 2 in critical condition, markets, roads closed, chaos everywhere

Stone-pelting and lathi-charge incidents occurred as a result of clashes between police and protesters

Muzaffarabad: Reports of clashes have been received in various areas during the ongoing shutter-down strike and protest called by the Joint Public Action Committee in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. According to the latest reports, 58 people have been injured during the protests, of which 2 are said to be in critical condition.

According to eyewitnesses, clashes took place between police and protesters in some places, resulting in stone-pelting and lathi-charge incidents. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals where medical aid is being provided on an emergency basis.

Due to the situation, business centers remain closed while transport is nonexistent. Citizens are facing severe communication difficulties due to the suspension of mobile and internet services.

According to authorities, additional personnel have been deployed to control the situation, but locals are expressing fears that the protests could intensify if their demands are not met.
