Catalonia/Spain: Police have arrested 10 Pakistani nationals on terrorism charges during a major operation. According to authorities, the group was involved in inciting extremism and inciting violence.

According to details released by Spanish authorities, the arrests were the result of a joint operation by the Mossos de Squadra (Catalonia Police), the Spanish National Police and Italian law enforcement agencies.

Authorities say the group was linked to an extremist organization that was promoting extremism through secret messaging apps. Some members of the network had also started identifying targets for potential attacks in Europe.

The investigation further revealed that a separate online group, led by one of the arrested women, was involved in spreading extremist material and selecting targets for potential attacks.

The 10 arrested individuals were brought before Spain’s Central Investigation Court No. 6 on March 6, where they were charged with terrorist financing, recruitment for extremism and support for extremism.

The court ordered four individuals to be held in custody, while the others remain under investigation.

Spanish police have clarified that so far no direct links to any international extremist organization have been proven, but investigations are ongoing.
