France recognizes Palestine as an independent state

France will open an embassy based on factors such as reforms, a ceasefire and the release of all prisoners held in Gaza.

Paris: France has taken a historic step by recognizing Palestine as an independent state. The announcement was made during a high-level conference in New York.

France and Monaco officially recognized Palestine as an independent state at a high-level conference on Monday.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on the occasion that we must use all our capabilities to preserve the possibility of a two-state solution, where Israel and Palestine can live side by side in peace and security, as the participants burst into loud applause.

The French president presented a framework for the new Palestinian Authority, under which France will open an embassy based on factors such as reforms, a ceasefire and the release of all prisoners held in Gaza.
