Brussels/London: US President Donald Trump’s proposed 20-point peace plan for Palestine has received a positive response from European countries and several world leaders.
The plan includes points such as a ceasefire, provision of humanitarian aid, prevention of forced displacement and the establishment of a Palestinian state under a two-state solution.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell told Dr. Akhtar Gulfam over the phone that “this is the first time that a major powerful country has given a clear outline not only for a ceasefire but also for the reconstruction of Gaza and the protection of human rights. We welcome this plan and hope that all parties will engage in constructive negotiations.”
The British Prime Minister, the French President, the German Chancellor, the Italian Prime Minister, and the Spanish Prime Minister have also made statements in support of the plan. These leaders say that if the plan is implemented, a lasting peace can be established in the Middle East.
The European leaders particularly emphasized the points that include the unhindered provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza, the phased withdrawal of Israeli forces, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the two-state solution in accordance with international law.
It should be noted that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, and other Muslim countries have also accepted the plan in principle. According to global analysts, if the United States and European countries jointly emphasize this peace formula, it could prove to be a breakthrough for the Middle East.
